Why Our Design and Build Process Delivers Real Results

At Envisage Spaces Group, we challenge the standard way of doing things. We like to think of our design and build process as a way of working, blending creativity and collaboration together under one roof.

Our expert team, with over 1000 years of craftsmanship put together, delivers designs from exhibition halls to interior transformations that are built exactly as intended. At ESG, we avoid guesswork, ask the right questions and build through collaboration, crafting spaces that reflect your brand, exactly how you pictured it.

The Design and Build Process that Delivers Real Results

We follow a unique end-to-end process because it ensures a cohesive team drives your project, optimising and troubleshooting as one team

Step One: Understanding Your Brief

Your brief is the foundation of everything that follows and is arguably the most important stage of the project. We know that good design starts with understanding, which means identifying critical results, deadlines and return on investment measures. Leaving nothing to be overlooked, we take the time to listen, question and learn everything there is to know about your brand.

With a deeper understanding, we create spaces that not only reflect your brand accurately but also speak to your audience with meaning at every interaction.

Step Two: Research

Research plays an integral role in several stages of the project. Firstly, we carry out primary and secondary research to support better material and finish choices. With the purpose, context and target audience always considered, we make material choices that are durable, stylish and delivered at the expected cost.  Research also allows us to identify practical constraints before they become a problem. When supported by thorough research from our team, health and safety concerns and installation challenges are quickly identified and easily managed.  At ESG, we like to encourage creativity in any way possible, that’s why in our research process we create mood boards that set the visual tone, highlighting textures, styles and colours that reflect the project and the passionate minds behind it.

Step Three: Graphic Design

At this stage, we explore the visual direction of the project, discussing every detail from colour palettes to typography. To translate the project’s brief into a visual concept, we start by presenting a range of initial design mock-ups, open to a discussion around style and design direction. At a highly collaborative stage in the process, we make feedback an essential, prioritising review meetings where revisions are efficiently addressed and implemented.

Step Four: Communication

After an initial design concept is pitched, we break down every design element with a clear justification for each decision made. During this time, no revision is too big or too small. We created a step in our design and build process that is dedicated to correction and improvement, making sure we get it exactly right. But we don’t stop at satisfactory. We use this time to find opportunities for brand strengthening, refining customer experiences and smarter financial choices.

Step Five: Design Development

Once approved, the design concept is transformed into an actionable plan. Taking the core concepts from the ideation phase, we explore several key areas to guarantee that the finished product is both visually compelling and functional. Our team focus on finalising design elements such as layout and imagery, making sure they complement the brand’s identity and goals. We offer you an opportunity to get an actual feel for the final product, presenting prototypes, detailed designs and interactive elements that are planned for practical delivery, within your budget and deadlines.

Step Six: Precision Manufacturing

The precision manufacturing stage is where high-level accuracy and efficiency come together. Operating under integrated management systems accredited to ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO50001 compliant standards, we manage and review every stage of the process with confidence and precision. Our products are consistently produced on time and always with a commitment to high standards of quality and security.

Step Seven: Sustainability

As a Planet Mark-approved, FCS-certified, and carbon-neutral business, we take responsibility for our environmental impact and actively work to reduce it. Across the business, we have implemented strict waste management strategies, alongside recycling schemes and smarter material choices. We work with businesses at any stage in their sustainability journeys to drive change, big or small. For exhibition stands, we offer fully reusable and reconfigurable modular systems that can be reused across multiple events. On the interiors side, we lead with sustainable material sourcing such as eco-certified finishes and recycled laminates.

Step Eight: Final Delivery

We complete the entire process in-house, with our own team, equipment and platforms. For our clients, our ERP system offers 24/7 monitoring and access to the project details and important updates such as deadlines, drawings and orders.

We are proud to offer a passionate in-house team that meets the standards required under CDM regulations, in addition to our site operatives who hold CSCS cards, and our SMSTS or Prince2 certified project managers. The delivery stage of our design and build process involves a team that’s qualified and invested in making your project succeed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 'design and build' mean at ESG?

It means we manage and deliver the entire project from start to finish: design, prototype, build, delivery, and install.

Can I visit during the process?

Absolutely! We support feedback and collaboration throughout the design and build process because we know that it builds trust and ensures clarity across the project. Clients can join us at our Material Lab or during the prototype stage.

Do you work internationally?

Yes, made possible by our global network of supporting partners, we can deliver the same passion and quality across the globe. Some of our recent adventures have been to Milan, Paris and Chicago.

Is the design and build process different for interiors compared to exhibitions?

Slightly. We work to the same fundamentals, but exhibitions may focus more on logistics and shorter installation times, while interiors may require more attention to long-term materials and interior design. At ESG, we work from a well-established design and build process that we are confident in navigating, giving us the flexibility to tailor each project to the specific needs of the client.
